What is teeth whitening?
Even brushing and flossing your teeth daily, staining and discoloration can still naturally occur over time. No need to worry – the team at Rappahannock Orthodontics can help you get your smile back in no time! Applied in one of our offices, Opalescence Boost is a teeth-whitening gel that quickly, safely, and effectively provides a brighter smile. No hot or uncomfortable LED teeth whitening lights are needed as the gel is chemically activated. Opalescence Boost begins to work as soon as it is placed on the teeth. You’ll have a brighter smile in just 60 minutes!
How to whiten teeth
There are various ways to go about whitening teeth outside of regular dental hygiene. These methods may include:
- DIY teeth whitening
- Natural teeth whitening methods
- Teeth whitening strips
- Teeth whitening kits
However, the best teeth whitening method is to go with a dental professional who knows what they are doing. The team at Rappahannock Orthodontics is highly trained and provides a much more effective and safer tooth-whitening treatment than you could give yourself at home.
What to expect from teeth whitening
Our office recommends seeing your primary dentist for a regular checkup before visiting us for an Opalescence whitening treatment. Your dentist can discuss your teeth and gum health with you and determine if a whitening treatment is best for you. Routine dental check-ups also eliminate plaque and surface stains, which create a smooth surface on your teeth, making the whitening treatment more effective.
After visiting your dentist, you can schedule an appointment at Rappahannock Orthodontics. You’ll come to our office and share some medical history, like existing health conditions or tooth implants. Then, we can begin treatment.
Once your gums, lips, and tongue are protected, we will use a gentle, brushed tip to apply the gel to your teeth. The gel will remain on your teeth for 20 minutes before being suctioned off.
Once suctioned off, we will evaluate your shade change and determine if you need another application. We can apply the gel up to three times within one treatment session.
Following the final application, the protective barrier and retractor come off quickly, and you will notice a brighter smile!
